OVERVIEW

MCT-oil consists triglycerides of medium-chain length (6 to 12-carbon tails) saturated fatty acids.

It has unique characteristics, compared to longer-chain saturated fatty acids. In particular, MCTs passively diffuse from the GI tract to the portal system (rather than being absorbed via the lymphatic system like longer-chain fatty acids) [Wiki].

MCTs have been suggested to be helpful for ketogenic diets.
